Hey guys, I'm planning on building my first pc and this is the build I am planning to build:

Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
MSI B75MA-P45 Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
MSI GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 1GB Video Card
NZXT Source 210 Elite (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Corsair Builder 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply

So I was wondering, would this build be good enough to play games at med-high settings for around 3-5 years without any upgrades? I might consider upgrading the gpu to something like the gtx 760 in around 2 years . So should i go for this build or opt for a cheaper haswell build and upgrade it when broadwell is released?

I don't think that has bee confirmed yet. As long as the price premium for getting haswell is reasonable (the pricing as of now is so-so), i would still get the haswell. But if you can find IVB at below market pricing, pick it up instead.

Go Haswell, Your motherboard will be compatible with broadwell that way, and its only like 10-15 usd diference, Good thinking on the 500w psu , you are covered for when you upgrade to the GTX 760. It will handle all games at mid-high settings for 2 years, at the 3 year you are going to
start playing the 3AAA games like crysis and metro in low settings but you will be upgrading when that happens.

Unless you are getting that IVB chip at a discount, I would go haswell just for the upgrade path option later. Even if you get i5-4430 (lower clocked, lower turbo), i think it should be pretty much the same as 3470 in performance, so haswell would be my choice. Your gpu choice should be sufficient for most games at mid~high setting at reasonable resolution.
