I am having a heat issue with my CPU. I am playing Guild Wars 2 and my PC shuts down at random. I am using ASUS Probe 2 and moved my threshold to max and still get a warning popup at 65c. I have moved the slide to 80c. Is that safe? I also have an ANTEC 900 case with 5 cooling fans and a 200 MM exhaust fan.

Just try to reinstall the cpu cooler by adding a mx4 thermal compound

Or u can get a aftermarket cpu cooler

The best u can get is a cooler master hyper 212 evo cooler
Its a grea cooler which can easily maintain low temps while o.cin
It can even outperform aio liq coolers like h60,h80 antec 620!,seideon 120m

And teh best thing is its for 30$

I have a great aftermarket cooler made by asus. I used to play WoW and never had any issues. Then I started playing GW2 and now I get over temp all the time. The first thing I always do is junk the oem cooler. I use Arctic TP as well. I Have quite a bit of experience with this PC and have never had this issue. Could it be my PS?
Currently my CPU is sitting at 48c but spikes to 70c while playing an MMO. Is that normal? Could it be a BIOS setting and if so can someone assist with the proper settings? I am a hardware guy and have a basic knowledge of bios and software.

I went into BIOS and found that the cool and quiet was set to disable by CPU so I set it to always off. I hope it works because I really cant afford a high end cooler at this time. I will let it run for a bit and see if it shuts down. Is it okay do you think, that I set the threshold to 80 or do you think I should move it back down to 65?

I cant seem to find the mounting bracket for my Silent Knight II but I did pull my CPU cooler and found the thermal paste had disintegrated to a bit of dust. I reapplied paste and the temp seems to be holding. Thanks for the help.
