I have an Abit NF7-S Ver. 2 MB. Been away for a couple months. Came home and tried to fire up my computer and it wasn't doing well. Sometimes just a black screen. Other times windows would freeze when loading. So..I opened up the computer (and please don't ask me why I did this, because I don't know), and I plugged in the ATX 12V1 plug. The ATX Power 1 was still plugged in as well. I then proceeded to turn on the computer. I heard a tiny pop and smelled what seemed like burnt wires. The computer just shut down. From that point, I could only turn the computer on for just 1 second. In order to do that, I must first shut down the power supply. Turn it back on, then try to turn on the computer (again, it only lasts a second). If I don't shut the PSU down and back on, computer is completely dead. I switched out the MB and the power supply with the same result. Have a feeling I fried my CPU. Or maybe the ON/OFF switch? Any thoughts?

The ATX power from PSU had a twenty pin and a four pin you can separate. They were as to fit in the twenty pin power input. Like I said, the other day, I also plugged in the four pin that was left into atx 12v1 on the board and then turned on the computer. It fit. Unfortunately. Know it was stupid. Just trying to get a handle on what I now did. CPU?, Switch? something else?

Good luck RMAing a board for a company that has been out of business nearly 5 years :) His best best is to build a new system.
