I'm looking for a way to have my router password changed every day automatically, or with little effort, rather then logging in each day. I want to be able to make sure my kids get their chores and homework done before they start going online; once they're done with everything they get the password.

I'm not sure if anything like this really exists, but if so I would love to know about it.

Solution
Yes... absolutely. But depends on your router model.

Take a look over here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/

It replaces your router's operational system (easy way to explain). And after that, you can do whatever you want.

A script to change a router password would be an especially dangerous thing.

Problem:
Restrict kids outside access until they've done their chores.

Supplemental problem:
If Kid A has finished, and Kid B hasn't...how to restrict only Kid B?

Solution:
Alternate router firmware (dd-wrt or similar) and restrict by time, IP address, and MAC address (MAC address can be spoofed, though).

Secondary solution:
Linux firewall appliance for border protection. untangle or similar to manage who gets on, what they can do, and when.

What about an access point? Do wireless access points have the same type of setup systems as routers? Is there software that would allow me to easily turn a connection for a certain devices ip/mac address on and off?

An access point just passes the connection on. Everything still goes through the upstream router and whatever controls live there.
