I've been going back and forth on wether to build my own desktop or buy a maxed out alienware 18 inch. This is the build I created on partpicker:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1n4Ot

There isn't much price difference and I can finance the Alienware which is the appeal of it, but I do not want to risk an extremely long delivery or an issue with customer service. If I got the Alienware it would have the 780 sli, the best processor, and other options maxed out. So what should I get? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

Alienware will cost you far more than the equivalent build and while they will give you name brand parts for things they advertise the "no name" stuff is usually rather mundane.

I have personal experience with Alienware, First of all my laptop took 1 month to arrive, the customer service its excellent, one of the best, and i know its the best service because my laptop failed. How much Money Can you invest in cash for your desktop, and how much can you finance? The reason i want to know this its because, if your budget in cash its really low, there are plenty of webstires that handle custom desktop pc, that offers good finance for 1 or 2 years.

Definitely build your own! Alienware is an overpriced laptop. You'll be happy with a full desktop unit. But if you're looking for another laptop substitute, there are MSI gaming machines.

Always build yr own over buying ready gaming gear like Aware. I bet its $400 on top!

Good! It would also be more meaningful specially when you'll be the one to assemble it, seriously. :)

Building a desktop is usually better than buying a gaming laptop.

The "Alienware is overpriced" argument is silly for those who live in the US; Alienware gives many and large discounts.

The build you've listed is just WOW. Now that build would destroy any alienware laptop. haha

Thanks for the compliment! I have one more question though. Does the motherboard come with an sli bridge or do you have to buy one?

Some will come with an SLI bridge, some don't.

I Love my Alienware 18 It is fantastic and EVERY game is on ultra , a couple SLI bugs but nothing any crossfire system would have. I can use my laptop for HDMI IN & OUT right out of the box, the camera is awesome , the customization color skeem , Alien fx Lighting is brilliant. The video cards are amazing when they aren't fighting the drivers (BF4 Beta Ehhh) but I love mine ..... Oh and the warranty ( Drop and spill protection bla bla) and the list goes on ... im almost 40 its an adults premium toy I fix everyone's crap but i love my alien ware lol It just works a new game comes out it just works grab your xbox wired controller load up steam and i know it is going to work , Im kinda sounding like an ad but I'm really pumped for what it has crushed so far right out of the box...
