What practices are generally used to keep the harddrive running in top shape rather than degrade over time?

I got the new one @ 7200 rpm and it's performance has been great so far

Solution
1) Defrag your hard drive
2) Tighten screws because vibrations can damage the HDD.
3) Shut your computer down correctly using “Turn Off Computer” and don't just push the power button or unplug the power cord to turn off their computer.
