Some Overcloking Questions

Hello everyone, I have a few questions regarding overclocking.

1. First of all, how much does overclocking affect gaming in terms of framerate, game loading speed and performance? Also, does overclcoking affect other uses such as web browsing, application launch speed, and general computer speed? If so, is it really worth it?

2. Does overclocking dramatically reduce a CPU's life?
If I overclock a 3570k to 4.2 Ghz, would that be considered as a big overclock? Also, would it be stable? (My cooler will be a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo).

3. Are there any special materials/components I need to purchase in order to have a successful and stable overclock?

4. I've heard that the i5 4670k (and Haswell CPUs) gets really hot when overclocked @ 4.2 Ghz, which therefore, would mean that I'd need a better cooler (than the Hyper 212). Is this true?

5. If I do overclock, which processor would be good for it (and best bang for the buck)? I"m guessing the 3570k?

6. Finally, what about GPU overclocking? Any noticeable performance differences and is it worth it?

Thanks alot! :)

Solution
1. For the most part games are not bottlenecked by the CPU so it oft the GFX card that limits any affect the OC'd CPU might have in most instances. Where the CPU is not limited by GFX, it does have significant impact.

2. No, not if you keep temps within safe limits (I keep < 75 max on hottest core)

3. No

4. The 212 is pretty good, the Phanteks is 14C better

5. The 2700k overlcocks better than the 3770k which overclocks better than the 4770k. By the time you are all done, there's very little difference overall. The 1700k and 3770k (and their i5 counterparts) use...

The 1700k and 3770k (and their i5 counterparts) use the dead end 1155 socket. Lose ya MoBo a year from now and you need to replace your MoBo and CPU .... 4xxxk use 1150 socket

MoBo - $402 - MSI Z87 GD65 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1392841
CPU - Included - Intel Core i5-4670k

6. It's also easy and has significant results

Thank you for the answer. Do i need anything special to overclock my gpu? Also, would a 212 handle the 4670k at @4.2 Ghz?
