So I'm back in Canada after three weeks.
After I got back, I plugged in my modem and connected it to my new EA2700 router. I tested it, but it said no internet connection on my desktop and laptop. So I decided to reboot my modem. It worked and connected me to the internet.
I noticed my public IP changed, and I was wondering if that was related to the problem? Because for three weeks my modem was not connected to my ISP.
I checked my EA2700, there are no problems with it.

Motorola Surfboard SB5102 cable modem FYI all.

I'm not to surprised because I do have bad luck with modems, they always screw up on me and I always have to wait like two or three weeks to get my ISP to get me a new modem. Before I got this SB5102, a few SB5101 modems screwed up on me within 4 years. I'm hoping this does not need a new modem, because my ISP always does a no show to booked appointments to replace my modem.

Thanks a lot guys,
Harrison

if that is the first time this router is connected to this modem, then that is normal that you need to reboot the modem.

Since the MAC address of the new router is different then the last device connected to it, you will not have internet access until you reboot the modem.

usually the lease on an IP is 24hr and then it might change. Since your modem was off or not connected to the ISP for three weeks, your old IP has been reused.

next time they replace your modem, ask if the can use a SB6121 or SB6141 which are newer modems
