hdmi and vga problems?

so i built a new computer and when i first plugged it in to my monitor i plugged it in with hdmi from my gpu to my monitor and nothing came on the screen then i used the dvi to vga adapter that came with the card and plugged that into the monitor and it worked i then plugged in both and when i switched to hdmi it was at 1080p but the screen was stretched out so i could only see half of the task bar i also couldnt lanch any programs.so at vga i cant run games at 1080p but at hdmi i cant launch anything and the screen is really stretched out does anyone know what i can do so hdmi isn't messed up?

Looks like you need drivers. What is your GPU?

Wow, well did you try going into bios and disabling something called iGPU/IGP graphics?

Im starting to think maybe its your monitor? Are you using a TV? If so, then make sure it can produce a 1080P image

so i checked my bios and it is disabled and im using a monitor with a hdmi and vga input only which is why im using the adaptor on my gpu

hmmmmmmmmmmm..... Dont use the adapters at all... Use the official cable, no adaptors just straight cable. I use a HDMI to DVI-I and I pug DVI-I into monitor and HDMI into GPU. Its really cheap and actuallly works high res

which cable should i get if my gpu has dvi,hdmi and display port and my monitor has vga and hdmi so that i can play games at 1080p without problems

Cables and adapters aren't the issue. It's scaling. Monitors will have their own scaling options and also check the nvidia control panel.
