Hello,

Today I made a build which I think will fit my $1000 budget. I will be using this for gaming, HD video editing for youtube and some minimal photoshop work. I don't necessarily want all games to run at high fps with maxed out settings. Just with high settings and good enough fps to play. What do you think of my PC build, anything that can get me a better bang for my buck? All the pieces not there (OS, keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc.) I already have.

I'd go for this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231416 as the ram only because I had trouble fitting my CPU cooler on top of the sniper ram let alone the ripjaws, though I did have a different mobo.

I'd also get this PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703027

That should still keep you under 1000$ but if you'd like to spend more the 660ti might net you a bit more graphics performance.

A gpu more along the lines of this IF you're comfortable spending a couple more dollars for price/performance http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121767

Yeah I don't plan on downloading wayy too many games and I already have another external drive for other things.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the build?

This is a better build, The new GTX 760 is out already and its one of the best cards giving you the performance of a GTX 670

this graphic card is way better than the GTX 600 , you can play all game on Max settings with good FPS , as example !! you'll get more than 100 FPS on Battlefield 3 ultra setting 1080p .

it's worth the extra 38 dollars if you can afford it , or you can cut down the price by choosing cheaper motherboard , or SSD .

I have heard some rumours that the amd gpu cards may be better for work oriented tasks, whilst giving a similar gaming experience to invidias at the mainstream + end of the scale?

No comment? No , I wouldnt buy an an amd card either.

Is the 4670k that much better than the 3570k? What differences does it have from the 3570k?

I guess thats a yes and will probably improve my video rendering....will probably be going with the first cheaper build...unless Kareem can convince me as to way I would go for the more expensive build?
;)

Well, first off, do you live near a Microcenter? If not, neither of those builds match your 1k budget.

:edit: Meh, I guess the difference is only about 30-40 dollars, so probably. Fit the 760 into your budget, I'd drop down on the PSU a bit to save some money. You can still get a quality PSU for less money, so it's not a performance or quality decision. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/rosewill-power-supply-hive650 One of the few Rosewill PSU's that actually rates as a tier 2. http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx And it's 60 dollars before the MiR. To make your 1k budget, I'd drop the cooler from the build. You can add that later to save money now, but it's only 20 dollars or so so it's up to you.

yea , i know that ! the FX-8350 has much powerful performance using all cores than the i5-3570k / i5-4670k

it would perform better than the intel CPUs at that price for video editing and 3D work and stuff , it's just for 190 $

well , check this out :

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-8350+Eight-Core FX-8350 for ~ 190 $

http://cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-4670K+%40+3.40GHz&id=1921 i5-4670K for ~ 200$

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-3570K+%40+3.40GHz i5-3570K for ~ 190$

Really? I've heard that intel is actually better for all those tasks....and I've just always been more of an Intel person...never really liked AMD

For video editing, you'd actually get better performance from the fx8350. It's not as strong of a gaming Cpu though, but it's not crap.

As far as the budget, I assumed you'd want the SSD for your pc, assuming you had an HDD for storage. That's a very good price on the SSD, even if it doesn't perform as fast as the best ones, I'd buy it strictly for the storage amount.

I think I'm just gonna go with the $888 build with an SSD instead...why did you say that it wouldn't fit my budget, again?

look !! am not an AMD or Intel fan , i just go for the better value choice , if you are looking for performance/value then you should go for AMD , if you are looking for Performance and you don't care about the Price , then you should go for intel . at that Price range , you'll never find better than the FX-8350 in overall performance .

check this out : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jV2Voo5h3eU ( start watching from 4:00 )

a comparison between an $119.99 AMD processor and the intel i7-3770k for $319.99

check and tell me if that i7 worth the Extra 200 Dollars !! ( am not saying the FX-6100 better than the i7-3770k , just wanna tell you that , intel stuff are overpriced a little bit , that i7-3770k should worth around 200 to 250 maximum )

You're right way overpriced. The amd even did better at one part....so you recommend getting the FX-8350 over the i5-4670k?

ya , get that FX-8350 , it's much better for editing and 3D work and stuff , but it has less performance per core which means the i5-4670k is better for gaming !! but it's only about 5~10 FPS better , and its not for all games , we can say most of nowadays games , but the next gen games will start using all cores in gaming which means that FX-8350 will perform perfectly and better than most of the i5 processor in next gen games .

so if you really care about 5~10 FPS in this generation games , then go for the i5-4670k , in the other hand , if you care about overall performance , future proof , editing , 3D work !! go for the FX-8350 .

My friend is looking for a similar build but strictly for gaming, could you recommend a similar build but with a cheaper yet still powerful graphics card, could even be AMD
