Running Tower Case Fans

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to run my case fans without anything installed, except the PSU already installed in the case. I was thinking I might just hook the fan controller up to the fans and the PSU, then plug it into the wall. However, I wanted to be sure before I fried a $250 component. Thanks!

cant see why not

assuming your fan controller connects to the psu by molex or sata

just did a similar thing with a swiftech h320 watercooler without problems

ran the pump and 3 fans with no other components in the case other than the psu

edit--though you probably need to jump start the psu as no motherboard means no on/off switch

Yes, just do as suggested above to start the PSU. Then the output cables will be live. You can connect you fan controller and run it normally.

not to mention in most cases the PSU wont even give out power unless its connected to a mobo or jumped
