So, around 30 minutes ago, I accidentally stood on my girlfriends laptop....

And... now we need a replacement. This has given me the opportunity to also replace my old piece of..... stuff.

I've vowed to her that I'd get her a gaming laptop as a replacement some months ago, and I had been eying up the new series of laptops with the new 4700 haswell CPU's and GTX700 series GPU's.

I've been eying up MSI and Asus as prime candidates. My girlfriend really likes the MSI's steelseries keyboards and I'm quite keen on the hardware.

We're looking for something powerful as we're both gamers and I also do a lot of multitasking/programming.

I'm thinking the 4700 series CPU with a GTX770m/780m, 8gb-16gb ram, and dual slot HDD (for SSD's etc). Potential M-Sata slot. 120hz screen would be great as well.

We need a replacement within a week or two.

this is the best laptop you can get right now and its MSI.

My partner and I have actually taken quite a liking to the MSi :)

What would you say about the MSI GT70 that you linked compared to the Lenovo Y510p w/ SLI?
I plan on throwing in SSD's into both machines also.

Dont know about you, but from my personal experience, Gaming laptops get hot, maybe not in the beginning but give them 1 year of constant gaming and you will start to feel it getting hotter, making you replace the thermal paste and give it maintenance, Now the Lenovo seems like a good deal, but in my point of view, thats one Hell of POS. Using the Sli makes you unable to use Raid, and just for the lols, they have good ventilation on that model for a Single Card, A sli Card in that tiny laptop, and do not make me start with the ventilation system that looks so obsolete. Theres a Reason MSI, ASUS, COMPAL, IBUYPOWER, CYBERPOWER, SAGGER, ORIGIN, etc, started using back vents on the laptops, You Dont push out the air from a gaming laptop from the sides, but you do it from the back. Anyway MSI is better by alot in the long run, its even more pretty, and The performance between the GTX 770m and GT650M Sli its almost the same, in some cases the Sli wins, but most of the time the GTX 770M its clearly on the Top. I see no Benefit of having more heat in your laptop when we can see just a diference in 5 to 9 fps. I leave you the Benchmarks
