I just bought the new(ish) amd fx-9370 processor. It was running really well for about 20 mins with the stock fan (bad choice i know. So when i upgraded to the corsair h55 water cooling kit, my cpu is at 60c idle. Ik that is bad for most processors... But what about mine, what are ideal temps and max temps for my cpu?

I would have to say that your cpu is running extremely hot for an AMD. Max cpu core temp for amd fx series processors is 61 celsius :(

http://www.overclock.net/t/1134229/amd-cpus-max-temps

FX8120/FX8150 (BULLDOZERS) -> 61'C ---I know yours is not the 8150 but temp wise it is the same.

Are you noticing Throttling or performance issues? If not then I believe you may have a temperature sensor issue possibly. Your computer would shut down if it were that hot :). Let some others reply and see what they say!!! Good Luck hope this helps

The H55 is not good enough to cool the FX9370. You need a better water cooler. The 9370 has a TDP of 220W. If I were you, I would spring for a H100i.

The 9370 only costs $350 and some people even say its faster than the over clocked 8350 even at the same speed.

I think this is true. I remember reading somewhere that AMD made some slight improvements to Piledriver that were implemented in the FX 9xxx series cpus.

Return that CPU immediately for a refund and get an FX 8350 or 8320 and overclock it. 5GHz isn't guaranteed but you can get close enough for it to not really matter. The FX 9370 is pretty much the same CPU as the FX 8350 but just like a massively factory overclocked version. There's nothing special about the FX 9370. Please... Take it back.. You'll be doing yourself a huge favor! There are so many extra things you could buy for the money you will save if you take the thing back.

It's the same CPU just with faster clocks. There's no way it could possibly be faster. Please.. Show me the benchmarks. I would love to see it. I want it to be true... But I seriously doubt it's true.

would an antec kuhler H2O 920 work find? Some people are ranking it above the h100

I have an Antec Kuhler 920 paired with an FX-8350 clocked at 4.5GHz. I had swapped the Antec stock fans for some Cougar Vortex fans but the Vortex fans were not powerful enough. I had to go back to the Antec fans. So I'd say that a Kuhler 920 may not be enough (varying on the environmental operating temperatures where you live a.k.a ambient).

Whoops thought you said 9590. All the same I was under the impression these were just cherry picked FX's with a big factory OC no actual architectural changes. My apologies if I am mistaken. I'd suggest the H100.

Try a Nuctua NH-D14 cooler. I have the same processor. They run hot my temps are 68C under full load. when at idel they rest at 33-34C.Also at 4.7 24 /7 with turbo boost turned on. Thanks

I'm running an FX 8150 @ 223TDP (CPU OC'd to 4.4Ghz with 1.4v - 260Bus x17Multiplier)

With my CPU, the max its reached on a hot day was 45 degrees - using Prime95).

I'm using an Antec 1220 - Very similiar to the Corsair H100

I have the 9370 oc'ed 5.3 with an h110 inside a huge inwin gr one. I can say this setup for me has been great. I haven't reached temps higher than 55 C.

Something else to note I have a sapphire 290 reference model and the temps on that with msi afterburner have never gone above 60 C.

Granted I have 6 fans in the case but the h110 is incredible at keeping my cpu cool. 55 C. under full load in anything I do at this oc is great. And I have 3 systems setup and my 4770k runs multille apps almost as good as the 9370. And my 3770k almost runs gaming experience as good as the 9370.

As funny as it sounds. Now I haven't switched vid cards to fully test this but the cards are close.

Both intel setups have gtx 780's.

I just wanted to try amd's line and found a sale for the asus crosshair v formula and the 9370 for $429.

I am sorry guys but i have both an 8350 and a 9590 from AMD. I am running a corsair H110i and my CPU @ 100% load for over 15 min is only at 46 degrees C the 8350 runs at about 5 degrees cooler with no OC on either. At idle my CPU sits at about 7-11 degrees C. You will see more efficiency with the 9590 and smoother gameplay.

you should be able to put a liquid cooler in almost any case just make sure that the Case fan size matches the cooler.
