Seems a bit of an obvious question right?

Thing is, I have just brought a brand new PC, specifically for gaming. Now my favourite game, Flight simulator X, should run so smooth I couldn't tell weather Im sitting at home or in an actual cockpit!

Ive seen videos on Youtube of Microsoft Flight Simulator X running with graphics on ultra-high HD, running on Intel i5 Processors, 4GB RAM, 1 GB 560 Graphics card with a 400W PSU. The graphics are so good you literally have to ask, 'excuse me, is this real?'

My system 'specs' is as follows.......

Power unit: 450W Quiet 80 PLUS Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan

Processor: Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-3820 (3.6GHz) 10MB Cache

Graphics Card: 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650 Ti - DVI, mHDMI, VGA - 3D Vision Ready

Motherboard: ASUS® P9X79 LE: INTEL® SOCKET LG2011

RAM: 8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (2 x 4GB KIT)

Cooler: Corsair H60 Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler

Am I missing something? Is my computer really that bad? I mean im getting 20-25 FPS!!!!

Seriously, any performance or tweaking advice would be fantastic.

One last thing..... How do I overclock???

Thanks in advance for any advice!!!!!

No, that PC is very nice. You have an i7 combined with a 2gb 650 Ti- You shouldn't be getting 20-25fps.

Try defragmenting the folder?

FSX is pretty rubbish in terms of performance and no longer supported they really needed to make it 64bit, you can improve performance if you were running FSX from an ssd as it streams in the map.

you could also try cleaning your drivers using driver fusion.
uninstall current driver and dont restart.
run driver fusion and clean nvidia drivers then restart.
install latest drivers as display driver and hdmi driver only and see if it helps.

Thanks for you input. Im slightly amature with computers so could you expand on the uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers? Also what is an 'ssd' and how do I stream a ssd to FSX?

AN SSD is basically a Storage drive like a HArd drive but it has no moving parts and loads faster.

when i mean streaming i mean how the game loads new parts of the game world, since the maps on flight sim are large and it cannot use more than 2-3GB of ram it has to load from the hard drive which can slow performance.

go into control panel and then programs and features and select nvidia and uninstall.

to get the new drivers go to nvidias website and look for drivers.

im suprised your even running that system on a 450w. it could be that the powers supply isnt supplying enough power for the whole system as 450w is way too less for a i7 plus 650 ti. i have a hunch that the psu proably throttling down ur whole system. btw fsx is a cpu oriented game not gpu but i still cant see why ur getting such framerates. btw what resolution are you gaming on?Have you installed all the service packs too?

When I designed the computer I opted for a 600w PSU but they told me the maximum watt output was 388w so they said I didn't need to get a 600w. I installed Fraps and was getting between 17-25 FPS at a stand still. It was on maximum settings but it should be able to cope with that. That was with an add on but still I should be getting more
