Hi guys,

Didn't know if this was better suited in the graphics or motherboard section so I put it in here seeing as it is kind of a motherboard question..

My board has 2 PCI Express slots for GPUs.. only the second one is an x4 slot.

I currently have 1 Radeon HD7870.. is there any point me putting a second one in the x4 slot or is it too slow to make an appreciable difference.. and would it give me a difference worth £180 on a graphics card?

Thanks.

I do not thing you would really gain enough performance for the money. Stick with what you have. If at some point you feel the need for better performance add some funds to it and upgrade to say a Sapphire HD 7950 instead.

But this all really depends on what resolution you are running at and what the rest of your hardware is in your Rig.

I don't know how much they've proven themselves in the past, but AMDs last CAT 13.8 show great improvements when looking at benchmarks. I don't know too much, but from looking at PCpers tests, the 7900 series are performing alongside the rest of the high end pack. Just a shame that we can't get any results on the 7800s because I too am thinking about crossfiring my 7870, in 16x/16x however.
