AMD Athlon II X2 370K 4.2GHz
OR
AMD Athlon II X3 455 3.3GHz

This is for gaming and I will not have any other process running other than the game will i need a tri core they cost about the same but which is better?

Solution
You need to go with the AMD Athlon II X3 455 since it requires socket AM3/AM3+ while the AMD Athlon II X2 370K requires socket FM2.
You need socket AM3+ motherboard if you plan on upgrading to FX 8350.
Go with the AMD Athlon II X3 455 and buy a good motherboard for overclocking.
I would highly avoid any dual core CPU in 2013 since it has been 7 years from the first introduction of dual core CPU back in 2005.
From my experience I find that any dual core CPU will have the same fate as single core CPU and that is good for web browsing, streaming videos and doing office work.
When choosing a CPU for your purpose it is good to have something that is more future proof so that it can run the latest applications and games for the next few years.

Well the AMD Athlon II X2 370K comes with
MMX instructions
SSE / Streaming SIMD Extensions
SSE2 / Streaming SIMD Extensions 2
SSE3 / Streaming SIMD Extensions 3
SSSE3 / Supplemental Streaming SIMD Extensions 3
SSE4 / SSE4.1 + SSE4.2 / Streaming SIMD Extensions 4
SSE4a
AES / Advanced Encryption Standard instructions
ABM / Advanced Bit Manipulation
AVX / Advanced Vector Extensions
BMI1 / Bit Manipulation instructions 1
F16C / 16-bit Floating-Point conversion instructions
FMA3 / 3-operand Fused Multiply-Add instructions
FMA4 / 4-operand Fused Multiply-Add instructions
TBM / Trailing Bit Manipulation instructions
XOP / eXtended Operations instructions
AMD64 / AMD 64-bit technology
VT / Virtualization technology
EVP / Enhanced Virus Protection
Turbo Core 3.0 technology

AMD Athlon II X3 455

MMX instructions
3DNow! technology
SSE / Streaming SIMD Extensions
SSE2 / Streaming SIMD Extensions 2
SSE3 / Streaming SIMD Extensions 3
SSE4a ?
ABM / Advanced Bit Manipulation
AMD64 / AMD 64-bit technology
AMD-V / AMD Virtualization technology
EVP / Enhanced Virus Protection

From what i can see the dual comes with some new instruction set that the tri-core lack.
One more thing i notice is the dual core is built in 32nm while the tri-core is 45nm.
But it is safe to say that dual core will be outdated since future games will be more multi-threaded.
But If you can, go with the tri-core and overclock it to 4 GHz with good cooling and it should be a nice setup for gaming.

so from what you said the doul core is better but might get out dated soon
The tri core is less but only if I over clock will it be acceptable performance ssoooooooo
I'm gonna buy the 8350 9 months later so with the instruction i can also emulate more with the doul core so i choose you pikachu i mean doul core
