The TV's native resolution(like a computer screens resolution) is 1366x768(or 1360x768), run it at that. Your not going to be gaining any more detail by running it at 1920x1080.

I read that looking for software to overclock my tv and I ran into this statement. So if this is true and Im thinking it is, if I have it set to 1080p does that actually degrade my display quality or does it make no difference? I look forward to hearing from you guys and expand my knowledge.

Solution

If your TV native resolution is 1366x768, then it will show in that resolution. If you send a 1920x1080 signal, it will downscale it to it's native resolution 1366x768.

And the 1366x768 vs 1360x768 used to be a win XP problem. XP didn't support the nativ 1366 resolution, but win7 does. On a XP machine, you may get a better picture quality with a downscaled 1920 resolution.

The displayed image is not a solid picture, it is made up of tiny dots called pixels the 'native resolution' is how many dots across and down the maker built into the display if it has 1366 across and 768 down it can only display that many dots, no matter how large the image sent to it is.

If you send signal 1920x1080, and it's downscaled to 1366x720, and if you send signal 1366x720, it's mean they have same resolution, same pic quality, so it's not better quality when it's downscaled.

I wanna thank you guys for your response. I had to go with Miro though he was the first to reply. I thought I was missing something cause I am always looking for things and asking myself questions like that about what is and is not possible and finding the background to why such and such is true. I couldn't really find anything more on that guys statement or on-line anywhere. I might've been looking in the wrong place's though. I trust you guys more than I do any of the other forums I've browsed. Cause when I do my research after an answer for the why's of the answer I find the info. is more times than not accurate. instead of 50-50 like the other forum's.
