I have a Dell xps 8300 with a geforce 560 TI, it runs everything like a dream.
I swapped the graphics card into my Dell xps 420 replacing a geforce 470 just to check it out, the 560 was running exactly the same as the 470, so I upgraded the psu not by much but just enough for the power old one was 375 new one is 450. It didn't help so I though that maybe it was the ram because it only had 3gigs so I upgraded that to 6gigs and still the same.

So I was wondering if instead of using a 4 pin to 6 pin adapter for the graphics if using a sata to 6 pin would be more powerful or something?

The game I tested was world of warcraft by the way

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The issue isn't with power or the use of adapters, the issue is that there's little difference in performance between the 470 and the 560. The 560 is only marginally better and in a old game like WoW, I'm not surprised you're not seeing any difference. You'll notice a little difference on newer games, but unfortunately it won't be much.

In fact they were so close in performance the 470 became the 560Ti 448 SE.

I had the 470 from 2 years ago my brother had the 560 TI and you guys are not understanding what I'm saying

I have 2 pc's - 1 dell xps 8300 and one xps 420

The xps 8300 runs both card insanely well 50fps in major city all graphics set to ultra

The xps 420 i see a huge decline in graphics power with both cards 14 fps on both cards in major city with settings on ultra

the 8300 has an i7 and 8g ram

the 420 is quad core with 6g ram
