which ssd is better for me?

Hi I am stuck on a decision on which ssd I should buy that is better for my current motherboard. This is because I heard that there is some bottleneck regarding the asmedia sata 3 controller.

My motherboard is the Asus P8H61-M Pro and I need some recommendations on which 120GB SSD I should purchase.

The SSDs I were looking at are the Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB (MLC) and the Samsung 120GB 840 EVO (TLC).

My budget is between £70-£90.

Which one will offer me faster speeds and reliability/longevity?

Thank you very much for any help.

  1. use it on the intel native sata 6 gbps ports as it would have the highest performance

as ssds in real life dont differ hugely, get this one

Problem is, my motherboard does not have an intel sata 3 only 2 intel sata 2 and 2 asmedia sata 3.
  3. Just personal opinion, I'd get the Samsung drive :)
  4. there is no benefit from the samsung drive. it has less write cycles and even if its faster, it wont make a difference

use the asmedia sata 3s. they work fine

Your board has these sata 3's:

    ASMedia® ASM1061 controller :
    2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), navy blue

They will work OK for you. And I doubt that you will be disappointed with the Samsung HyperX. I have a 240GB HyperX on my second comp and it is amazingly fast.
  6. the difference is minimal. the sandisk happens to be the cheapest one per gb so grab it
