The network comprises of Workgroup of 10 systems. 2 systems of (which one is a server) and another PC acting as servers, connected by 3 switches and 2 hubs.

No trouble in the last 6 months or so, but suddenly now the network is hanged - i mean to whole network goes awry. With only the other systems connected communicating with ping and network.

Only the server to the switch communication is in trouble. This lasts until replacing the wire into another port and after some time it is connected.

All, this is happening for the 2nd time.

Any solution to the problem is welcome and appraised.

First, even if it's not the immediate cause of the problem, get rid of the hubs. There is really only one specific purpose for using a hub in a network anymore and that is for capturing packets for inspection. Your hubs are going to cause you all kinds of network congestion and grief, get as far away from them as possible. Daisy chaining switches together is also going to cause a lot of problems. Replace three switches with a single switch with enough ethernet ports for all your needs plus a little extra for any growth.

Now, the underlying physical network has been addressed, there is another thing that can cause issues and that is the limitations of a Workgroup network. Most workgroup networks are limited to no more than 10...

Now, the underlying physical network has been addressed, there is another thing that can cause issues and that is the limitations of a Workgroup network. Most workgroup networks are limited to no more than 10 computers, anything more than that and you start having lost connections and intermittent problems with devices communicating together on your network. There are ways around this by splitting your network in to multiple workgroups, but this doesn't really solve the issue completely, as for simple file sharing that means only those computers in the same workgroup will communicate for file shares easily. You instead have to set up file shares and network access through IP addresses instead of computer NetBIOS names. The other way of getting around this is setting up a domain instead of a workgroup, which is not limited in size.
