Connection seems to be fine but no display

Hey guys i got a HD6850... and i'v got a 700Watt PSU
but when i plug in the graphic card and connect the 6 pin power chord(which i had to buy off the internet) the card powers up .. the fan spinns, but there's no display . . . i plug in the monitor onto the VGA of the mother board and the display comes . . with the resolution decreased . . .

Did you install the drivers and verify that the drivers are functional? Did you try with another cable, monitor, etc.? If not, I would try those first, and to verify that drivers are installed correctly, go to start (on windows 7) and search "device manager (without the quotes) Click on device manager, then go to display adapter, if it says the manufacturer of the graphics card or something similar as a driver, it is installed correctly. If not, go to the manufacturer and download the drivers for your card
