i have a 2 year old rig which i still keep at home for the rest of my family to use that runs a asus gtx 560 dcii oc (1gb). I dont game on it much, since i got my own gaming set up. However, my siblings are starting to play games too. Games such as prototype and skyrim, crysis 3 and bf3 on campaign (not competitive). They dont really care too much bout graphics, so no need to 'max out' or anything like that, though games are played in 1080p. MAIN QUESTION: DO YOU THINK ITS A GOOD IDEA TO PURCHASE A SECOND GTX 560 TO RUN IN SLI FOR MORE POWER? I'm on a tight budget in upgrading the rig, and i think it would be waste to buy a gtx 760 or anything like that. I read that a 580, 670, and 760 are quite close in terms of performance, with 670 in the lead (ignore vram). Gtx 560 sli, so ive read, beats a single 580, thus being on par with a 760. Power requirements and heat is not a problem.

More about : gtx 560 sli

gtx670 and gtx760 are close performer. But gtx580 is not on the same league. I upgraded my gtx670 from a gtx580 and its at least 30% faster and gameplay is way smoother. Also sli comes with drivers issues with the new games and microstuttering just so you know. Overall, gtx760 should outperform the sli gtx560.

Alright, good to know! But do you think gtx 560 sli good enough for 'soft-core' gaming, such as the next elder scrolls and bf4 on 1080p, but not necessarily max settings?

Alright thanks bro! Oh yeah, one last thing, WHAT IS THE BEST 2GB VARIANT of the gtx 560? i was thinking of getting a 2gb on, setting it as my primary, and turning off sli to use the 2gb for graphic editting and rendering. Once the computer is used for gaming, i would turn on sli.
