Fried Ram Slot, Motherboard still good?

Ok, so today my ram slot or my ram stick fried out of no were today.
My problem is if I got buy new ram sticks and put it in my computer would it be fine as long as I don't put it in the slot that got fried or should i just switch out my motherboard with my old one

Well the problem was I running off only 1 stick since my other burned out in the old mother board, I am going to buy more ram sticks today and check, the one that got fried has a black mark at the end of it and smells really bad.
But the main problem was it was fried even tho the computer was still working, after I did a restart the computer would just keeping beeping when i turned it on.
I checked the ram and found out that either the ram slot or the ram stick had gotten fried.

I cleaned the ram stick up a little and one of the pins is burned off, i put the stick in a different slot and it booted up fine.
Computer shuts off when booting up in windows.
