looking to upgrade my fx6100 I currently have it on an Angelica mobo. im afraid that when I overclock my cpu to 3.9mhz (stock 3.4) that my cpu is getting to hot, looking for an intercooler as well as a new cpu. what can I upgrade too, and how far should I push it on my mobo. I have an upgraded power supply(corsair cx 600) as well as a gpu (radeon hd 7850). my cpu is bottlenecking my gpu, unless I overclock it. trying to play rome total war 2 around 60 to 80 fps. when it eventually comes out. any suggestions?

According to this, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en..., you could go as high as a 8150, which probably won't be a huge increase that you'd notice over the 6100 unless your doing major rendering where the 2 extra cores would come into play.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/434?vs=699

They don't have a 6100 but a 6300 vs 8150, not a big increase to dump a $150 at.

As for cooling, it's hard to say if a aftermarket cooler would fit the HP board, give the caps around it enough clearence, etc, but the Hyper Evo 212 cooler is about the best cheapest cooler out there.

Also note, that motherboard only has a 970 chip on it and not the best power or VRM's, so overclocking on that board isn't the best nor are you going to get good results.

so would you recommend that I upgrade my mobo as well? if so what?

The supported CPU list that I posted above does't say the 8350 is supported, only the 8150, so where do you get that his MB will support it?

It supports 125 tdp processor so it will surely support 8350

would the difference really be that more superior to the 6100?
and how would I know if I damaged my mobo overclocking my cpu?

there is no other way to see if I damaged my mobo other than a debug card, if not what card should I get? how easy is it to install a new cpu, simply remove old and slap in new one?

yes it is very simple swapping cpus
other way is to check ur cpu on a diff mobo

well that's not an option, because this is the only mobo that I have. you think the cpu that you suggested will run on my mobo? also is it worth it? I really just want to build an optimal pc for rome total war 2 without breaking my bank account
