I currently have a Gigabyte Mobo GA-EX58-UDR3. It has 3 2GB modules in it running triple channel. I'd like to increase the RAM and have been looking at various options. It seems the easiest would be 3 4GB modules for a total of 12GB of RAM.

Would the following work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161453

I'm not sure if the DDR3 1600 would work.

I currently have an Intel Core i7 920(2.66GHz) processor for what it's worth.

If you want absolute best performance and compatibility check the Memory Compatibility List for recommendations from Gigabyte that have been tested on that board.
- There may be an exert in your motherboard manual, otherwise it will be on the Gigabyte website (an updated version).

Yes, the memory is compatible and it will work just fine. Try getting CL8 or CL7 if possible else CL9 will do. I have not tried WinTec so cannot assure you that it will work perfectly but is should work. Else try other brands like GSKILL>Corsair>Kingston etc

Thanks, there is a list but it's from 2009 and doesn't include most of the currently available modules above 2G or many at 1600+

Well, the QVL is useless. They mention whatever they tested at the release of the motherboard and most don't even update their QVL. Moreover, they can't test with variety memory modules available in the market, so the QVL is just a basic outsketch of what type of memory might work.

Thanks.

I admit I was looking at the modules I listed because they are pretty cheap and my system is a bit older and I don't want to dump too much more money into it.
