So, I have the card in the title. When I bought it, everything was hunky-dory (spelling?) I also have Astro's 2013 mixamp with a40 headsets (which WERE working) fine. Upon installation of the latest driver on creative's site, it seems that my sound no longer works correctly. Before, you would have to set "Speakers" as the default playback device, in order to use dolby digital live. Now, I only get sound when its set to S/PDIF, and I get an error message saying, "the operation was unsuccessful, blahblahblahnothing important" when i try to enable dolby digital live. Also, I am unable to get audio to go through the optical in jack. I cannot find the older drivers that i previously used, and I have uninstalled, cleaned, and reinstalled SEVERAL times, and I'm this close to just putting a hole in my monitor. please help.

lol im pretty sure i just downloaded the wrong driver, but its the only one i could find that looked like what i was looking for.
I downloaded this http://www.hardwareheaven.com/pax-download-pcie-x-fi-series/220393-pax-recon-3d-series-v2013-v1-00-a.html and now it says my device is disabled, not present, not supported by the application, or has unplugged jack connections.

Awesome.

Edit: Upon further review and reading through the PAX forums, I might have to do some ID editing or something, its really hard to comprehend what theyre saying in that thread.

Sadly, this did not work. In fact, now I no longer have the ability to see the Cinema tab in the control panel, which housed the Dolby Digital Live option, so now I'm farther in the hole =/

I was having this same problem, I figured it out. Using the original Creative drivers, just install as the manual says, and leave "Speakers" as the default output device. Then set the following in the Creative TruStudio app:

Cinematic - enable Dolby Digital Live
Advanced Features - Play stereo mix to digital output

This works for me, it now plays Dolby Digital audio for all my applications and games via Toslink to my Yamaha home theater receiver. I hope this helps you.
