I did a clean install of Windows XP and now it is running painfully slow. Does anyone know why it would run so slowly and could it be a hardware issue that would make it run so slowly? It is an old computer but I need to run XP for my work Cad program. The program won't run on Windows 7 but I was wondering if it might run on Vista. I can't even run Windows update. Do you thing the difference between XP and Vista is so much that my CAD system wouldn't run on it?

how much RAM do you have ? CAD will be slow on low RAM ...

and if you are using pirated CAD , dont bother to ask for help :)

I have 768 MB Rambus Ram and I haven't installed the Cad system yet. I only installed XP & service pack2 & 3, Adobe Acrobat Standard 9, PC Cleaner & CCleaner. I want to make sure it is running well before reinstalling my programs. It ran better before I did the clean install. I had a small partition for my C drive so my computer started to run slowly. So I decided that I needed to delete all the partitions and make it one big one like the new computers have. It is so slow the internet is almost impossible to go on.
