I have been trying for hours. When I built and setup my new computer, I linked it to my Microsoft account, and without warning, Windows "Permanently" named the profile folder something that I do not want. I have since changed my Microsoft name to my real name, which I want. I have tried several different things, but I can not the the name of the folder changed. Is their anything I can do besides reinstalling Windows 8 Standard and reinstalling all of my programs?

In addition to all of that, one of the things I tried involved creating another user account. I deleted the account, but I can't get rid of the empty folder. Oh why does Windows users and permissions have to be so complicate?.

You had the right idea. Create a new (make sure it is Local, and has administrative rights) account on the machine, and after backing up your data, delete the 'Microsoft' account.

The easiest way to get rid of the profile is to remove it from the User Profiles list, accessible from the System Properties window. Open System from Control Panel (Windows Key + Pause/Break on your keyboard), click any of the bottom 3 options at the left (Remote Settings, System Protection, or Advanced System Settings), click the Advanced tab in the new window, and then click Settings under the User Profiles section in the middle. Select the account you want to remove from the list and click Delete.

This should remove the folder altogether, but can be...

This should remove the folder altogether, but can be hindered by something locking a file contained within the Profile's folder. A reboot will remove the open handle and either clear the folder automatically, or will allow you to delete it once you are logged back in under the local account you created.

All my programs will still work correctly if I copy and paste the files to another account?
In one of the guides I read, it said to copy all files including hidden ones, except the "NtUser" file, but I could not even find that file.
