Hi all I have a few questions. I recently updated a friends computer and was wondering if he bought a new graphics card for the system what you would suggest. He plans on upgrading to a new one soon but my thought was that he could get a decent card now (200 max) and then when he upgrades get another and sli or crossfire the 2. I figured this would give him as good performance as many new cards.

Also he has no preferences for his graphics card it can be AMD or Nvidia (i thought AMD would be a better value)

Thanks

Edit:

System info using speccy:
Overview
Mobo
CPU
Current Graphics Card
RAM

Power supply is 500 watt

You could've just copied the text in the summary, but I wouldn't even bother upgrading. First of all he'll want a quad core CPU, ddr3 1333+mhz RAM, and a MOBO that supports the CPU. Then a 6/7xx series Nvidia GPU or a 7xxx AMD GPU.

Well i had heard that gaming wasn't really depending on the cores of the cpu. If he gets 2 500 series cards wouldn't that be close to a high end 600 series. He has a few games he just wants to play now until he gets money to upgrade so would a 500 series card be bottlenecked in that mobo (pci slots etc.).

Right now Neverwinter Nights 2, but when he upgrades his whole computer other modern games. Also when you say "upgrading" that PC the only thing he would do is get another graphics card which he would then SLI in a completely new one.

Alright after doing some more looking I found some more specs on the mobo. I dont think any 2 slot wide cards would fit also its a pci 16x 1.0 slot not much use throwing a nice card in there. Thanks.
