I am choosing between 2 pc configurations, which is better/more future proof?

Intel Core I5-4570
AsRock B85 Pro4
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB
Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Radeon HD 7970 GHZ Edition 3GB
NZXT Gaming Phantom
OCZ Gaming Fatal1ty 750 W
Lite-on DVD drive (not sure what one, it costs $18)
Windows 8

Or

AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHZ
ASRock 970 Extreme3 motherboard
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB
Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Radeon HD 7970 GHZ Edition 3GB
NZXT Gaming Phantom
OCZ Gaming Fatal1ty 750 W
Lite-on DVD drive (same one)
Windows 8

Also, I am moving from an Xbox 360 to the pc. I would rather have one that performs faster on everything else even if it sacrifices some gaming performance, since it will be better than my Xbox anyways. Thanks!!!

if you are looking for better future proof go for the second one ( FX-8350 ) since that CPU has 8 cores which means hyper performance , it's way better than the i5-4570 in term of performance using all cores but that i5 would be better for gaming at the moment because the games at the moment are using less than 8 cores in gaming which means that 8 cores processor will perform in nowadays games using about 4 cores , so that's why that i5 better at the moment , but the upcoming next generation games will start using all cores in gaming which means that FX-8350 will perform much better in the upcoming games .

you decide !! but by saying this , am not saying that FX-8350 is crap for now gaming , it's AWESOME !!

am using the same model...

am using the same model and am very happy with it , as example : am getting in battlefield 3 on Ultra setting 1080p around 70~80 FPS with my HD 7870 , so you'll get much better FPS using the FX-8350 with that HD 7970 !!

Hold your horses, just because games will most likely be optimized for multithreading and multi cores doesn't mean The 8350 is going to magically be the best for gaming. Next gen games haven't even came out yet and it's to early to tell. It's incorrect to call the 8350 "future proof." Right now the i5 is still the better choice and it most likely will be for the next couple years.

Edit- Just to be clear I'm not knocking the 8350.
