2 errors installing windows 8!

1 error is "windows cannot be installed to this disk. this computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. check your bios" and the ohter one is "we could not find or create a partition"

specs: windows 8
asrock z77 extreme4 mobo
wd 1 tb harddrive

please help i am stumped!

Two things:

First, If you are attempting to install from a flash drive, make sure you do not have the drive plugged into a USB 3.0 port. I have run into issues with usb install media booting into Windows 8 setup, and then claiming not to be able to install Windows 8 to any disk. Booting the same install media from the same computer on a USB 2.0 port worked fine.

Second, if the above fix doesn't work (or doesn't apply to you), check the SATA controller mode in the BIOS. Revert it back to IDE or Legacy mode, instead of AHCI. The install should then run properly. I have found in many cases, you are able to switch back to AHCI after the install of Windows is complete.
