Just set up my first raid array with a pair of 128gb Plextor M5Pro's. I downloaded a commonly used tool iv'e seen many people use for reference here on Tom's and ran the assessment. Here are the results:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CrystalDiskMark 3.0.2 x64 (C) 2007-2013 hiyohiyo
Crystal Dew World : http://crystalmark.info/

* MB/s = 1,000,000 byte/s [SATA/300 = 300,000,000 byte/s]
Sequential Read : 930.413 MB/s
Sequential Write : 510.090 MB/s
Random Read 512KB : 257.661 MB/s
Random Write 512KB : 261.762 MB/s
Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 32.413 MB/s [ 7913.4 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 139.758 MB/s [ 34120.6 IOPS]
Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 218.071 MB/s [ 53239.9 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 147.728 MB/s [ 36066.5 IOPS]
Test : 1000 MB [C: 29.8% (70.4/236.5 GB)] (x5)
Date : 2013/08/03 20:04:25
OS : Windows 7 Home Premium Edition SP1 [6.1 Build 7601] (x64)
I really don't have any idea if this performance is good or bad. I recognize the seq. reads and writes from shopping for these drives on Newegg, but iv'e never seen marks represented involving more than a single drive. they seem on par but i'm not certain. I'm unsure of how the other marks define the performance of my drives and hope someone would be willing to explain how they relate to real world applications and how they measure up against other mainstream drives of similar size such as the Samsung 840/830 series and so on. i made my purchase based on information in the SSD hierarchy chart here on tom's and the outstanding lifespan advertised for them.
thanks for your comments
