I want to upgrade my current rig from my single gtx 570hd. After some research I found SLI'ing the 570 wont do much for future gaming. I'm thnking of upgrading to a GTX 780 but as my current rig gets the job done now, should I wait? For either prices to drop and/or maybe a 790 or 8xx series (not sure if thats even a possibility). As I want to have my rig ready for BF4 I dont mind waiting a month or two after release to upgrade but not much more than that. One other question, do I need to upgrade my i7 2600K (no OC) while upgrading the GPU to prevent bottlenecking? Thanks in advance

And I game on a single monitor 1900x1200 and have a 750w psu if that info helps any.

The Radeon 9000 series will be released in 2 months, and from what I've read the 9970 will be a monster of a card probably in the $450 to $500 range. They are using a new 20nm fabrication so I think it's worth the wait.

Thanks for the responses. So Nvidia will follow close after the new cards AMDs? If so i might as well wait. But I so want the 780 NOW =p

Mr Expert, SLI 570 though stacks no where close to the 780. And I figure if I'm going to spend a few hundred bucks might as well spend a bit more and go with the a newer card. Also less power draw and strain on the cpu (correct?).

I'm thinking NVidia will bite back at AMD around February or March of next year. The 780 actually uses more power than the 680 but it's a lot more powerful. It's because they used the same 28nm fabrication.

Nothing wrong with SLI GTX 570s.

I know this is a newb question but if do I sli, everything between the two cards has to be the same, correct? Memory, brands, etc

Just make sure they are both GTX 570 cards.

Yeah I know that but I was under the impression everything had to be the same as well...

Do you recommend the Classified version of the 780?

I personally don't think the Classified http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E8PAAUS/ref=as_li_q... is worth the price difference but its up to you since it's your money. It does perform a bit better.

Guess I'll have to compare the prices and performance. Thanks

This is a good article and there will probably be a new one for the month of August in a few days.

Thanks. I had seen that article before, as for right now I'm just trying to plan for the upcoming months. I was about to buy a 780 but figured my current card is getting the job done so just wait and see what comes out in the next couple of months.
