I'm going to get 2 gtx 780s (dcu2s) For 5760x1080 gaming. I'm not sure how many fps they can squeeze out with games like bf3/bf4 and future games like ac4 etc. With monitors of that caliber? For competitive gaming I have an asus 144hz monitor and it feels great but I'm not sure for a laid back enjoyable and immersive experience will 60hz kill the experience? I'll probably do most of my editing and design on almost any monitor seeing as anything with will do for those. Would 60hz ips surround gaming be worse than 120(+)hz tn surround gaming? Will I even gget the frames to play with more than 60 fps?

More about : ips monitors good surround

120hz helps a lot in games that uses motion like crysis, call of duty, battlefield, need for speed etc. A split second gives you a lot of advantage over other players in mp. The ips would surely look better and sharper than tn but it won't feel nearly as smooth specially if you have a system powerful enough to give you 100+ fps in games. but if you go triple monitor, I doubt even the dual gtx780 would be able to maintain 60+ fps in battlefield 3/4. So ips is a viable option for you as well. But for games that can run smoothly at 100fps(i.e call of duty), the tn would take more advantage of that power

for 3 monitors best experience you will need IPS or VA monitors for the 178/178/178/178 Viewing angles.

and unless you have 4 Titans in SLI , you never get more than 60 fps on 3 Monitors using ultra settings , so why do you bother to go more than 60 hz at all ?

the 2 extra monitors will be angled , so ... the colors will be washed ...

here is the difference between IPS and TN

I already have a 144hz tn monitor I play with competitively. It plays great in bf3 and red orchestra 2 (albeit you need to mess around with files in that game to get 120+ hz) but I want 3 ips for a "magical" awesome experience pplaying games like bio shock or dragon age :)

Looks great, but as they say: you gotta pay to play XD

I already have the holy grail of competitive monitors, but 5ms is enough for just getting immersed as hell into a game like Skyrim :)  60 frames per second with ips colors on three monitors is more than any nerd could ask for :D

Although this thread is slightly out of date (certainly not obsolete however), I do have a question. This monitor you suggested looks pretty good, are there 27" versions? I didn't see any 27" ones made in the same line of products, are there 27" monitors similar to this one?

I am going for an NVidia 2D Surround triple monitor setup. I am probably going for an IPS despite the TN refresh-rate because honestly the picture quality on TNs are terrible. I think i have gotten over not being able to go 120Hz, even though my Graphics Cards could certainly deliver in most games. (Planning on going GTX 780Ti SLI, but waiting to see if a 6GB VRAM version comes out, which seems more and more likely to be revealed after the Titans sell out and the manufacturers get the green light from NVidia.) I would LOVE a 27" setup...

I have been looking at this (click me) monitor for a while, it is very sleek but lacks VESA mounts or DVI input. It has 60Hz refresh rate and 5ms response time (according to specs, may or may not be reliable). It also has a very appealing bezel size.

If I don't go with a mount, and can convert from DVI to HDMI efficiently and without losing performance/quality, would this monitor (x3) be a good choice for FPS games like BF3, BF4, CoD, etc? It just looks so sexy!

P.S. Although much gaming will be done on the monitors, I will many times be using it for standard use, sometimes photo editing, sometimes programming, etc...

:)

Thank you!
