I started a thread about this earlier but it fizzled out after 2 replies and no resolve. My Gateway GT5628 wouldn't start windows vista so i tried putting in XP. After getting the error message, i installed XP using a different computer. I also downloaded drivers for the hardware in the gateway. I put it back in the gateway and tried booting, it flashed the boot error and restarted. I tried in safe mode and it got stuck on a driver. It works in the other computer, but not in the gateway. I tried to run through the install disc and tried to repair it but as soon as it says starting windows, it blue screens and starts over. I think it may be a failing hard drive, but it works in the other computer so i'm at a loss at what it could be. Any response will be greatly appreciated

Have you tried this -

Boot from your Microsoft Windows XP CD, Start Recovery Console, choose your windows drive and login with the administrator - next, when you have made it to a command prompt, run, chkdsk c: /r
