Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my current PC, the h8 1414, and I was wondering is the AMD Six-Core FX-6120 Processor is good enough for the high-end modern games. I play games like Skyrim, DayZ, Saints Row: The Third, etc., and I'm just trying to make sure I'm getting the best out of my computer. I am just curious as to whether the AMD Six-Core FX-6120 Processor is good enough. Thanks.

The fx x1xx zambezi cpus are based on bulldozer architecture which came up in 2011
But late amd released fx x3xx vishera cpus which are based on piledriver architecture

Piledriver benifits
Better architecture
Has 15-20% perfrmance increase than the bulldozer
It has turbo cores

For ur system i would like to reccomend fx 6300
U can later add a cpu cooler to overclock it to 4.4 ghz
Best cooler -hyper 212 evo 30$
No the 6120 is not good enough. It doesn't even out perform the older Phenom IIs. Like others said, get the 6300. It is a great cpu if you plan on overclocking (it overclocks very well) and isn't that much more than a 6120 (unless you live in a country that has higher prices on consumer electronics).

Skyrim could end up being unplayable on a 6120.

I know this thread is old but I really have to say this.

I am not trying to brag or sound like a smart@$$ here I just want to inform you.

Skyrim is very playable on fx-6120. I have the fx-6120 and a xfx 7870 core ed gpu. My skyrim is maxed out on about 5-10 graphical mods. It is more than playable, I have not had any issues so far. In addition I can set crysis 3 to high, and bioshock infinite to max with absolutely no lag!

Here is a CPU review site that I found that may clear up a little even knowing this OP is a tad on the old side I have a 6120 that had just came out at the time I purchased a customer order on the cheap from HP and went for (at the time) bang for the buck I could come up with. Not a big difference when you look at this link and compare. Not sure it is worth the hassle of changing for now and on a tight budget it is almost unnecessary to me that is. It does a decent job with a 6870 gpu on what I throw at it also BF3, FarCry3 etc etc.

Putting some two cents in here. I saved a fx-6120 a friend of mine was dumping because he got a newer system and no one would by this one from him. Paid $20 for it. I recently paired it with a r7 260x and 8gb of hyperx fury ram. Pulling high to ultra graphics with at least 30 fps with some eye candy no sweat. Thing gets a little hot sometimes but never above 60c under load

check this link out and decide for yourself before you jump off the end of the pier about vishera vs zambesi there really isn't enough difference to warrant going to all the trouble even the FX-8350 the supposed wonder weapon ain't all that much different...kinda reminds me of the days when everybody was hot-rodding their cars and this carb or that exhaust was soooo much better...dash for the cash folks if you make a lot of videos for the guys at the elks club or whatever the more the better but for gaming and everyday use eh you'll never see the difference all that hooey about 15 to 20 % better frame rates is just what it is hooey....
