Just got myself a new monitor and here are two pictures of the same. It is slightly darker at the top. Is it okay or should I be looking for replacement?

I have checked the monitor in a dark room, and the screen (black) looks evenly lit all around without any backlight bleeding on top or bottom.

Solution

ohhhh. Now I understand. CRTs were great and I think you are seeing one of the reasons. If you wanted a better panel then I would have said to get a IPS (not TN) panel. IPS panels have better overall quality.

Tilting did not work at all. Only if I see the monitor from above say 6 inches over it, the display seems ok. But that is not the right way to work at all. :??:

Colors on this monitor is great though. The Display is fantastic overall but just with that small glitch.

So, if you look at it slightly above the middle line then you can't see properly? If so, that sounds extremely weird. The photos you linked aren't helpful. Maybe if there was an image on the screen we could see better what you mean.

Is the monitor used? old?

No no, if the monitor is viewed from the top, the screen looks uniform. The monitor is brand new. Infact it is one of the latest model of Dell called P1913S.

Here are some more pics:

No it is not annoying. But having used CRTs for 15 years, this is my first switch. Seems it will take time to adjust :D

Okay. I will check if I can get an IPS in these dimensions. Buying a monitor has become so confusing and researchful!
