Hey guys I have a really old motherboard P5L-MX

that supports only up to Pentium D 960 (according to asus site)

I bought 950 for $20 on ebay (tested/top seller) because 960 was $50 when 950 was $20. I am planning on using it for 1~2 year before changing the whole computer.

I have old E6700 (at 3ghz OC), 4GB ram, and GTX 460 that I can run 30~40 fps low and 20~30 on medium/high on Battlefield 3

What setting do you think I can run with on BF3/4? (D 950)

Also, was buying D 950 a good choice or just a waste

Solution
You could run BF3 on your OC e6700 as you already are doing.

For BF3 I would say an i3 should run it decently, an FX6300 about the same for single player. For multiplayer the FX6300 outshines the i3 since BF3 is decently threaded to load 4 cores + 2 lightly loaded ones.
The optimal rig would be an i5 or maybe a FX8320/8350
A decent mb would cost about $60 for both AMD or Intel
i3/FX6300 + mb should cost about $180
i5 + mb about $240'

For a budget conscious build I would go with the FX6300 and the top end build an i5.

You also need to consider the GPU though the 460 should do good for 1080p medium/high

I would peg the 950 at about 50% IPC and consequently about 50% as fast (E6700 2x faster). I wouldn't want to play BF3 or 4 on it though BF2 would be fine

Its okay/decent for web browsing, I have one used as that but wouldn't use it to game.

Well, you could get an AMD Phenom II X4 960 for around 90$ and an am3 mobo for around 50$
