Hey everyone, I'm currently deciding between two builds that I have put together doing some research. I'd like this rig for gaming and handing some schoolwork for College so keep that in mind. I have a little laptop to take to class for typing and light internet work.

Here are the two builds:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($206.97 @ Outlet PC)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($174.99 @ NCIX US)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($68.46 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Samsung 830 Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($104.99 @ Adorama)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($84.98 @ Outlet PC)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti 3GB Video Card ($357.13 @ TigerDirect)
Case: Corsair 500R White ATX Mid Tower Case ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair Enthusiast 650W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer ($17.98 @ Outlet PC)
Total: $1195.48

And the second:

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($179.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($178.98 @ Outlet PC)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($68.46 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Samsung 830 Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($104.99 @ Adorama)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($84.98 @ Outlet PC)
Video Card: MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($297.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Corsair 500R White ATX Mid Tower Case ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair Enthusiast 650W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer ($17.98 @ Outlet PC)
Total: $1143.33

Let me know what you think, and feel free to offer substitutions, especially if they save me some much needed money.

Solution

Could run one tv with HDMI but the other would have to be DVI or DisplayPort. (which means no sound)
There are lots of places to save money. For one, design with 1 GPU in mind unless you want to game on 3 monitors. This will save you money.

i5-3570k (must get the "K" model, not the non K)
CM Evo
ASRock Z77 Extreme 6 ($8 more than Extreme 4) $140
Kingston Hyper X 3K $100
MSI 760 $260 NOt sure why the EVGA 660ti is overpriced in your listing.
Fractal R4 $90 (very quiet and cool)
Seasonic SSR-550RM $80. Top quality and runs cool n efficient.

Well I do plan on using my 20 something inch hdtv as my primary monitor and then a 30 something inch hdtv for whatever else I can find to use it for. So I will typically be using two monitors that both connect with an HDMI cable if that should cause any need for change in my build.
