Looks like a pretty good build to me. Yes, get the extra 1GB of video ram. You can never over-buy on your psu or case. You're a bit low on RAM though. Try to get at least 6GB if you can.

The processor i choose has a model id as FD6300WMHKBOX but

In asrock site it is said that fx-6300 FD6300WMW6KHK model is supported

now i'mcompltely confused.
I happen to read articlein this site which says i3-3220 is better for gaming than fx-6300. But i has only 2 cores 6300 has 6.
I chose AMD because it has more cores and modern games tend to use more than two cores. So which one should I choose??

These are the links i saw.

Its not about cores or clock speed. its about actual benchmarks. However, in this case, the FX-6300 is much better: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-6300+Six-Core&id=1781 http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i3-3220+%40+3.30GHz

Hi Aron Nirmal, I am from Chennai.

As you posted a above configuration is good but not perfect for gaming or for the money you are spending.
As for the gaming first we need to build CPU perfectly for that without wasting extra resources.
Ok lets see what you can get with you budget.

Processor: For Current generation Gaming Maximum 2 Core is utilized except battle field (because of Frost engine" optimized for four core") you said AMD FX 6300 6 Core. For Gaming it will use only 2 cores MAX. If you test 2 only performance test for fx 6300 vs i3 3220, definitely 3220 beat it with 40 percentage increase "so increase in FPS in games than 6300".

GPU: Its must for gaming so for your budget 7790 is opt for you.. Please dont waste in spending 650amz edition like that its waste and 45% lower speed than 7790 with same price "XFX 7790 Core Edition 1GB (Factory OC) - 10600/- in Richistreet" and for beyond 1080p there is no Frame difference or performance difference in spending for 2GB. 1GB is more than enough for 1080p HD resolution. but in some case like if you spending much RAM in GPU like Nvidia 640 2GB @ 1024x768, 1280x1024 = Waste no difference, but for example Nvidia 680 1GB vs 680 2GB @ 1920 x 1080 will have significant difference like 5 - 15%. Google this for clear IDEA.

RAM: Just buy Corsair Vengance 4GB 1600 CL9 - 2400/-, 4GB is more than enough for current generation gaming with small resolution. Go 8GB only for higher processor + Bigger resolution.

Simple logic like Pulsar 220 having bigger petrol tank for high consumption vs Platina having smaller tank for low consumption. So
So increase in tank capasity will not give any speed or millage its just for how long distance can we make and capacity that it can hold on.

oK for you budget, see the below items, As the dollar pricing is increasing we got 5 - 10% increase in all computer items. As you are from chennai don't buy things on anywhere just go to richistreet you will find tones of PC components there,

Refer this site for better pricing in market: http://www.deltapage.com/list/index.html for last 2 weeks there is huge price difference delta and on flipkart so choose according to it.

Below configuration is exactly same as mine and its more than sufficent for me to play games 75% and 25% for Movies

Intel i3 3220 (Award winner budget Performance)
Gigabyte B75-D3H (Cross fire optional) (Award winner budget Performance)
Corsair Vengance 1600MHz 4GB (Award winner budget gaming)
XFX 7790 1GB = 10600 "Price not available in Delta website but can get from his shop" (Award winner budget gaming and Pricing + got 2 Original Free games last week)
Corsair CX430v2 (80+ Bronze certified)(Award winner budget gaming)
Seagate 1TB 6GBps 7200RPM
Samsung 18.5" or 20" LED ultra Slim Display.

For movies Add these Items along with this HD monito: Samsung 1080p resolution monitor. but if you go with 1080p monitor need to increase RAM and GPU VRAM size"i.e 7850 2Gb is better". and also Samsung monitors are higher pricer than other but its a good quality components.

For Cabinet: CoolerMaster K281 = 3150/- without SMPS
CoolerMaster K380 = 3500/- W/O SMPS

For gaming settings and bench mark for the above config please go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWQZiVIES3A

Remember DO NOT go to IT Depot they are selling in Higher Price than Richistreet and Flipkart.

Thanks for your information. I have a few doubts,

I wanted higher no of cores because
Even though games use two cores will it be helpful if we have additional cores so that the background processes can run on them. Means 2 cores or games and rest for other processes or my assumption is wrong here

K then go for i5 3470 3rdGen and remaining same config but you can't finish it under 40K.

And today i saw Delta Peripherals update 4th gen aSrock Boards h87 for just 6900/-. So if you again spend and add 5K i.e 45000/- you can get Haswell cpu.

Option 1:- i5 3470 + B75M-D3H + Corsair Vengeance 4GB + CX 430 v2 + CM K380 + XFX 7790 = 35850 + HDD + Monitor + UPS + K/M.

Option 2:- i5 4570 + aSrock H77 pro 4 + Corsair Vengance 4GB x 2 + CM K380 + CX 500 v2 + Zotac 650ti Boost 2GB = 41750 + HDD + Monitor + UPS + K/M.

OR

My first option all Under 40K

So Now I have 2 options
1.AMD 4.4 GHz AM3+ FX 6-Core Edition FX-6300 + ASUS M5A97 +XFX ATI Radeon HD 7790 1 GB DDR5 +Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB +Cooler Master K380 Mid Tower Cabinet + Corsair CMPSU-430W
WD Caviar Blue 500 HDD + LG GH24NS71/GH24NS72/GH24NS95 Internal Optical Drive

2. Intel i3 3220 + ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP Motherboard + rest are same

My Opnion about both Builds

Intel

  • I did read from this site the i3 is best or budget gaming.
    Low power consumption.
    Better single thread performance.
But i3 has only two cores which is good for gaming but I tend to run some tasks like file download/copy in background while playing games which I guess might affect performance.

AMD

  • FX was honorable mention in the same list as the a good cpu or budget gaming.
AMD is multicore and has good multi threaded performance. So two cores can be used for games and rest for OS proccesses.
It's power consumption is high compared to intel, will it make huge difference in my power consumption.
Is it OK run this processor with stock cooler(I won't over clock).

More questions?

  • I have chosen 430W PSU or my card is it good enough.
Toms harware had a guide which listed out pro's and con's of AMD/NVDIA, In that it was mentioned AMD driver support is bad. Is it that bad or it's okay to go with this card.
I would like to know about linux support of both the builds

Hey as you mentioned above buying i3 3220 + h77 is totally waste of money unless you make future upgrade to i5 or i7.

I am having i3 3220 + 7790 + cx 430 v2 with no problem. check this video of mine for game graphics details in Crysis 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWQZiVIES3A

And also you can go for FX 6300 but just buy PSU from CX 430 v2 to CX 500 v2 for safety. :-D

And iam using 13.8 beta driver i didn't find any major problems. And also i am always intrested only in AMD cards.
My 1st card is Nvidia 8400 (Sold within a month)
2nd Asus 4650
3rd XFX 4670 (Nice card + build quality used for 3yr + and after i sold it)
4th XFX 7790 (Purchased for low price + build quality + Factory Over Clocked)
