Hi Guys,

I wonder if anyone could give me a hand? I recently got a 2nd 7950 for crossfire, since putting it in my CPU has been reaching almost 100c! (2500k OC to 4.5Ghz) D:

The cpu always ran at an ok temp before putting in the 2nd card - However, there are two things I can think of that I could change to fix it.

1. My case has 0 cable management, so all the cables are blocking the path of the intake fan at the front of my case - I could buy a new case to fix this.

2. My CPU cooler just doesnt cut it anymore, I could get a watercooler to fix this.

I just want to know what would be the best option to get my CPU down to normal levels again! If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

-Use other third Party software to see if it actually is hitting 100c (SpeedFan, HWMonitor, Core Temp)
-Get a new case to increase air flow. Would be a good idea to get a case which can support several fans (5 is enough)
-Adding more fans will decrease component temperatures (if you have four fans have two intake, two outlet)
-Get an aftermarket cooler such as the Evo 212 or H80i
-May be time to get some new thermal compound (such as MX-4) to put in-between your CPU/heatsink

Thanks for your quick reply

CPU used to run around 65-70.
The cards are the Vapor-X Sapphire ones (HD 7950's) so they have decent cooling - Top card is around 68c while at load, and the bottom around 62c.
CPU now reaches around 80-100c whiles gaming.

The trouble is, already blew lots of cash on the GPU itself, so I can only afford one or the other this month, I need to know what would do me better for the short term untill I can pick the other one up next month - I do need them both at some stage, but I cant leave my CPU getting this hot, so I need to know what would give me more benefit right now.

Thanks for you help guys!

At the time I brought it, it did the job for me! I have a Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134&Tpk=arctic%20freezer%20pro

I was looking at Corsair cases, they seem to have good cable management. I was thinking something like a 300r or 400r vs a watercooler. I dont know what would help more.

I probably should have said this is with my window open and the side of the case off already... :(

I cant really go and get thermal paste very easy, Im from the UK and we dont have many hardware shops besides buying online... It would have to be ordered with either my new case or cooler - depending on which one would help me more

I'm using Arctic Freezer Pro 7 but the older version with the black fan. I changed the fan to Arctic F9 and put a second one F8(worst shape ever) behind the cooler. No matter I have a great case airflow and 2 fans on my cooler, it still sucks for a huge overclocking. I'm running Q6600 3,8GHz at 1.47v and the temps aren't a problem but when I run Prime95 for a stability test, they jump super high over the limit and I have to abort the test. Change this shitty cooler to something better and try again before buying a new case.

Well, brought a new case (Zalman Z11 Plus) and my temps are now back at 60-65. I got thermal paste too, but didnt end up using it... At least I have some now. Thanks for all your help guys!
