I've ordered the Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 motherboard,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0089GN9KU/ref=oh_details_o00_s02_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I was looking into buying RAM but apparently it is not as simple as just picking what statistically looks good, and performance relies on the CPU and motherboard compatibility (correct me if I'm wrong)

The CPU I've ordered is AMD FX6300 Black Edition 6 Core
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009O7YORK/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A little research revealed that for gaming memory, efficient utilization was achieved at 1600mhz, so basically I was looking for some 1600mhz DDR3 memory, 16GB of it is overkill I know but I want to take on any challenges at speed. I have no idea what 9-9-9-24 means or does, but it always seems to be mentioned with gaming memory.

I saw in another post someone recommending this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/G-Skill-PC3-12800-1600MHz-Profile-Channel/dp/B007BEHO3E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1375627315&sr=8-3&keywords=G.Skill+Ares+Series+16GB

I personally have never heard of the brand, I thought Kingston, Corsair and Crucial were the way to go with memory. I've added it to my basket, can someone help and tell me if I should go ahead and buy it?
Thank you for your time.

Why are you going for Low Profile RAM?
Are you going to install a huge cooler? If not then G.Skill RipJaws X Series 8 GB @ 1600 MHz is best for you.

Another alternative is Corsair Vengeance 8 GB @ 1600 MHz.
Crucial Ballistix, Kingston, etc are not as good as both of the above mentioned companies. Corsair and G.Skill top the RAM section and have best quality you can find.

There is also no need for 16 GB since it would go waste. Also, 1600 MHz RAM is compatible with both your CPU and Motherboard.

(For some reason my hands are starting to pain due to excessive answering in threads). :D

The Ares is a good set and works very well with AMD rigs, GSkill has been around for years and is the best selling brand in the States, they are expanding slowly but surely worlwide...They are the leader in high performance DRAM and have the fastest sticks available, actually they had the Tridents 2400 32GB set out about a year before Corsair got a similar set out, got mine when they were first released...I've been using them for about 5 years now pretty much exclusively

I've gone with the Corsairs that you've recommended, thanks.
