Readyboost for Gaming?

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R SE with an I7 CPU, 7730M GPU with 2GB of VRAM and 8GB of RAM. I run Windows 8.

I know this laptop is good enough for most games and I currently play ARMA 3 on standard settings and usually only get about 20fps in wooded areas. I also struggled with payday 2 beta on even the lowest settings.

I don't see why I'm struggling on a game like payday 2 but I think ARMA 3 is just poor optimisation. My question is, could this be a problem of RAM, and if it is, could using a 4GB USB drive to "readyboost" my laptop help at all?

It is definitely not a problem of ram and ready boost will likely slow performance down slightly.
laptop gpu's are often poor (and the problem) but unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it.

The 7730M is a very weak GPU. Not the best choice to put up with an i7 and 8GB of RAM. That's where your problem comes from.

ReadyBoost will not help. It never did anything to help in tasks anyway. You could go through the hassle of upgrading your graphics card, which might cost you a lot, given that you can find a good MXM card for sale.

I doubt you even could replace the gpu as it is a laptop. Blame Dell !

You can replace it. But there's no guarantee it will work. And as I said, finding a powerful enough MXM graphics card will be difficult.

I never even knew there was such a thing (My computer only has a very old intel hd graphics)
You learn something new every day.

I think that's a little harsh. I've played some pretty good games with it. Metro Last Light, all the Assassin's Creeds, Mirror's Edge, I Am Alive, Saint's Row 3 and Farcry 3. They all ran well on medium settings but that may have been at 30fps-ish which I know some people aren't happy with.
