Hello all,

Apologies in advance, I am sort of a noob. I want to get into PC gaming and thought the least cumbersome approach would be to buy a 4th generation Intel CPU in a Dell Desktop (8700) that is on-sale for sub $1000. Admittedly, the GPU will not be all that great. I am hoping that i could take out the GPU in the Dell 8700 and replace it with a bad ass GPU (maybe a Titan?), but I'm afraid that this Desktop will not have room to house a better GPU, or I'm failing to consider something else that is relevant.

I know that the norm within this forums is probably build your own PC, but I don't trust myself to not it up.

Here is a link to the PC that I'm looking at:

Would hugely appreciate any feedback / Advice. You guys are the best!!!

Freddie

Well this rig has only 450W PSU, so if u use titan i'm sure u'll screw up.

Try to build one on your own? Pre-builds are usually overpriced.

IMO if u really just buy XPS 8700, just make sure the GPU to GTX 660 is enough, though it will at least $200-300 overpriced. (sorry for typo)

If you built this system yourself, it would cost max. $850 (looking for sales and such), but you're gaming so you could cut costs here and there and actually end up with a faster system for what you're doing for even less than $850.

Alternatively, buy an i7 system they have with no video card (also a bigger case, this one is too small), and just replace the psu and add a Titan when you get it.

As you predicted, my recommendation is to build your own :p . Honestly, with just a little research, you can do it fairly easily. I'm 14 and I did it with hardly any complications, and I was a complete noob a month and a half ago as well :p . However, if you really don't want to build your own, then that pc has good potential. I'd recommend getting an ssd to go with it, that was the biggest performance bump that I noticed in my build. Load times are nonexistent. As far as the titan goes, that case fits the 660, which is 9.5 inches. The titan is 10.5, so I would think it would fit.
