So recently I bought all new parts and built my first computer.
Specs:
MB: P8z77-v le plus
Processor: quad core i5-3550 3.3ghz
Psu: Apevia 750w
Ram: intel patriot 1600mhz 4GB x2
120GB samsung ssd
Windows 7 64bit

After I put together everything my computer turned on for about 2-3 seconds then immediately shut completely off, then repeated this until I unplugged the power. I took out one of the ram cards and tried again, booted up right away and ran with no problems. Over the past month I have tried everything to get both cards to work with no avail. It doesnt matter which ram card I'm using or what slot its in, it works just fine, as long as there is only 4GB of ram installed.

I took the ram back and exchanged it for a brand new set and it still wont boot with both cards installed.

Have you looked in the bios at memory timings? You need to check everything in the bios regarding ram is set to auto, so it can adjust the timings with double the memory in.

with 1 stick in power on and go to the bios. Set XMP setting to whatever your ram calls for. Most likely your going to want XMP1 1600. Then save setting and boot to windows. No shut down and try add the second stick.

If that wont work see if there is a bios update for your board.

HMMM. I fear that board just wont work with that ram. Is there a less aggressive ram profile you can pick? I dont suggest it as a long term solution, but try it at 1333 speeds? I am already in the 'speak to asus ' frame of mind. If the board wont run without probs on intel ram at stock speeds what good is it?

I've tried multiple brands, and nothing works. :(  I guess ill see if asus has a support number or something.
