Overclocking Temperature Question

Hey guys, I recently went for a 4.2 ghz overclock with my i5 3570k and a hyper 212 evo cooler, and my temperatures are sitting anywhere from 65 to 71 degrees Celsius while running prime95. Would you say that these temps are normal given the cpu fan that I am using? (sorry, just paranoid as this is my first overclock)

Its good but 70c is max for that cpu, so would either lower ur overclock or lower ur voltages or possibly add another fan to ur cooler for push pull. Also u will never reach such a load that prime 95 makes with regular use, but my friend hit 4.6 with a 3770k with a phanteks ph-tc12dx with push pull with temps jumping to 70c, but every cpu and setup is different, id mess with voltages and stuff to see if u can lower temps or get a higher oc.

They are on the hot side however they are still safe. I believe they are under the CPU TJ Max. I guess what you could do to decrease the CPU temperatures is by adding more case fans or upping the Heatsink fan RPM.

To achieve best temps use the best air cooler. I recently got the latest NOCTUA cooler, and it is awesome! You would be hard press to find a better air cooler than this one, not to mention how quiet it is.

Noctua NH-U14S CPU Cooler

I would also recommend adding an extra fan if your over clocking. It's kind of tricky matching the fan because the fan on this cooler is not a standard size. It's 155mm. Here is the matching fan.

Lastly use your fav. High-performance Thermal Artic Silver 5 or ID diamond etc.. And make sure you apply it properly. Hope this helps out, and happy OVERCLOCKING :)

as long as your no where near 80c youll be fine, the cpus are comfortable up to around 85, but youd want to stay as low as possible really,
i have my 3770k at 4.3ghz at around 70-75, and thats a comfortable OC, with a Megahlem REV C
