Hello, I've recently bought a new gigabyte GTX660 (gv n660oc 2gd) graphics card. Installed everything, and then decided to try to run some games. Immidiately after starting a game, an annoying whistle/squealing noice appeared. This happens only in games, in the menu or in the game itself. The longer Im using the card, the louder becomes the sound. It is really annoying, and I cant play with it. It isnt the psu problem i think. I have a CX500 psu, my friend brought his 700w psu to try, adn the noise was still there. I phoned into the store, they said that they can exchange it for a new one(same card). Should i do that? What are the chances that the new one will have the same problem? I also head that coil whine goes away with time, is that true?

The sound was just terrible, it is impossible for me to continue playing after like 30 mins. I guess I will exchange it for a new one, but are the chances that the new one will have it high? Since it will be the same card model from gigabyte. Also, not all games have the vsync option. I tried it in many games, from new ones, to old ones that are like 6+ years old. The sound is present in each game, and not many of them had the vsync feature. The vsync i tried didnt change much, in one game it did lover the sound, but it was still annoying.

Don't just put up with it and use V-Sync. Your card shouldn't do it so send it back. Also in some games you can get really bad mouse lag with V-Sync on. When my GTX 770 had coil whine Galaxy tech support just said turn on V-Sync but that doesn't fix the problem its just a workaround.

Some games, Crysis 3 might not be one of them. I also have a 770 and have yet to experience mouse lag

I don't underestimate the GTX 770. I love it. When I get my replacement card back I'll tell you which games it mouse lags in. Also its not to do with the power of the card that causes it, I think its the effect of the frame limiting and the buffering. I seem to remember off the top of my head that it lags in Portal 2 and is even worse with triple buffering on.

I said I haven't ever experienced mouse lag. I play on 1920x1080.

You're the one who clearly can't spell what is right in front of your eyes. There is nothing wrong with my intellect I can tell you that.

Also resolution is irrelevant. Just google V-Sync mouse lag and see what comes up. Nothing to to with res, settings or the power of the card.

Just grow up kid and get lost.

I don't like arguing so don't be disrespectful please and it wont come back your way.

Here is your link. I'm on my phone at the moment so its a little hard to keep browsing the web and finding links.

That's just one. The GTX 670 is no slouch and this guy gets it. That is unlucky that the poor guy gets it in every game while only get it in a couple. All I'm saying is that it happens and not that it happens to everyone. Have you tried running portal 2 with vsync on along with triple buffering?

I'm not saying to find the most hardcore game, run it well and beat your chest about it. My 770 had no mouse lag in Arma 3 beta balls out with most settings maxed apart from AA but yet I get it in Portal 2 which is so easy to run. This is what I'm trying to say. Its not just about a graphics card at the edge of its limit struggling to play a game.

Right, let me make this a little easier to understand. Ignore Crysis 3 for a minute. It has nothing to do with Crysis 3. Yes its a cool game and wow it has shiny graphics but just stop thinking about it for one minute. One minute is all I ask. Is that possible? Read my comment again. Portal 2. Easy game to run yes? Try it with V-Sync on and triple buffering on. If you don't have Portal 2 that's fine just say. Just don't go off about Crysis 3 again please.
