Hey all, I'm just wondering if my cpu maybe bottle necking my gpu

I've noticed that its a fair bit laggy in certain games, mostly gw2 and I have fps drops in warframe.

I running 4gb ram, usualy 3gb used in gaming
With a amd phenom ii x4 945 3.0ghz 95w
And my gpu is a msi gtx 550 ti cyclone ii oc

Could the cpu be bottlenecking me?

Thanks.

no, the cpu and gpu are fairly well matched. Probably need a system upgrade.

System upgrade? What do you mean?

It's only recently that my system seems to be slowing down, it's odd.
The longer I spend in games, the slower things get,
I think it may very well just be ram as 4gb is low especially for gaming.
And I've noticed my gpu bounces from 99%usage to sometimes under and sit there for a while.

New mobo, cpu, gpu and ram. If things slow down in games, when was the last time you cleaned the dust out of it?

reformated your drive and reinstalled windows when you replaced your board, I'm assuming? Make sure your ram and video cards and cables are all firmly seated. More Ram couldn't hurt, if you have a 64bit OS

Yep completely reinstalled and formatted drives, had alot and I mean alot of issues with it ever since though. Slow pc, lots of issues, errors, and such. Heck it took me 3 reinstalls to get my pc working properly, because windows didnt want to play ball properly.
Even still, it won't activate.
I will double check everything is seated firmly, and may clear the CMOS, and see if it makes a difference, I am using 64 bit windows 7 .

Try running memtest, too. Check to see if the ram is on the Vendors Qualified List for you board and make sure you have the latest version of the BIOS running.

Ill check memtest, my ram is just basic economy stuff, I'm looking Ito sme corsair vengeance ram ASAP, as I know 8gb will stop slowing me down.
I've never known how to check bios updates, or do anything in bios' so I generally try stay away,

for most boards you can do it through windows, now. There is usually a BIOS flash utility either on the system install disk or the vendor's website.

One thing to note when you install system drivers for things like the motherboard chipset and such it is best to get the latest drivers from the manufactures website because the drivers that are provided with the install CD/DVD are usually already out of date by the time you get them.

Beyond that there seems to be other problems with your system as it should not take three installs to get things working correctly in the first place. Plus if it is not activating then there is more problems with the system anyway.

Get the manual for your motherboard and read up on what BIOS setting do what make sure you are running the latest BOIS because out of date BIOS can cause some real problems.

As for Windows if it was a OEM version of Windows that would be why it is not activating. A OEM version is tied to the hardware it was activated on.

Defiantly not open version, I know tht.
As for the installing windows taking a lot of tries, it's mostly because the first try, wouldn't let me format my drives, second try was because I messed up my settings, third one was because I had an issue regarding my video card that could only be fixed via a complete reinstall.
