I have an old sata drive from an old computer that I'm using for my new custom built computer I would like to wipe the sata drive clean completely of all programs and files however the old computer doesn't run I connected the old drive to the new computer tried to start it and got an error screen saying that Windows couldn't start I was wondering if there was a way to wipe the old drive clean for the new computer.

Solution
OK - there are three solutions.
1) Have a friend who is good with this stuff wipe it for you.
2) Open your computer and move your real boot drive to physical port 1 on the motherboard. Is the old drive inside the machine, or is it external?
3) Have us walk you through the BIOS.
It's possible that the machine is trying to boot from the old drive. You need to boot into your current installation of Windoze to format the old drive. Are you familiar with the BIOS boot order menus, or do you need guidance?

(when you attached the old drive to the new machine, the new machine probably saw it as a bootable drive and tried to start from it.)
