I just recently bought an ASRock 990fx Extreme3, FX 8320, Powercolor 7870 myst and some RAM from microcenter. Before I could get my CPU to work correctly I had to flash the BIOS down to a older version. After I did this it seemed fine. I came home from work, system was off and unresponsive so I immediately assume power supply failure. I purchase a new 850 watt, install it and it is still unresponsive. I begin to remove all components to breadboard my system. I get down to CPU, RAM and hard drives and system turns on. I re-install all components and system seems to be running fine. I turn off the system to test a full re-power and NOW the motherboard gives me a 5 beep code (Which I find out is related to the VGA controller). I install my video card into the next PCI slot down (All 3 PCI-E slots are 2.0 16x) and the system boots perfectly fine and runs fine UNTIL I put a load on the video card running any kind of game. The game will run for about 2 minutes before completely freezing my system requiring a restart. Toms Hardware, haaaaalllp

I ended up getting a clean exchange at micro center and swapped out for an ASUS board and and AMD 7870. If you can still exchange it's your best bet. I had phoned both ASRock and Powercolor and they both had no idea what I was talking about. My final assumption is that the BIOS on that ASRock just doesnt play friendly with the Powercolor. Might want to try flashing up and down to see if you can get it to stick.

Also, I had a strong feeling after my motherboard VGA slot failed it may have caused my powercolor to fail. If you have a spare system or a friends system to check just the powercolor on it may be beneficial.
